Shedding Season
The kids are heading back to school. The air is starting to shift — that first almost-imperceptible hint that summer is releasing its grip and fall is quietly moving in. The trees aren't turning yet, but they will be soon. And I'm feeling twitchy again.
Not restless-leg twitchy. Not pent-up-energy twitchy. Something different. Something deeper.
It feels like what I imagine a snake feels when it's ready to shed its skin. Or maybe — more poetically — like a butterfly beginning to push through its cocoon. That particular kind of discomfort that signals something is getting ready to change.
Maybe the season is trying to tell me something. Maybe we're all shedding something right now.
The louder the world gets, the more I want to build an oasis.
The world is moving fast right now. Faster than feels comfortable. Faster than feels human.
And I've been thinking a lot about what that means — for creativity, for connection, and for a dream I've been quietly tending for a long time.
The Stacy Sisters: What Happens When Women Choose Community Over Competition.
There are two questions guests ask us more than any other at The Stacy Mansion.
The first: "Is the house haunted?"
The second — and the one I want to talk about today: "Do you girls actually get along?"
Every time I hear it, I smile. Because the answer is so much richer than a simple yes.
I'm Back. And This Time I'm Building the Whole Dream.
There's something both humbling and electric about typing into this space again.
If you've been here before — welcome back. If you're finding Joy & Moxie for the first time — welcome home. Either way, I'm glad you're here. And I have a lot to tell you.
